Tower Gardens

The Tower Gardens area was originally a storage place used by the Tyneside Cargo boats after they had landed at Skegness.

It later became a coal yard before it’s then owner, the Earl of Scarbrough, had the vision to clear the site in the 1870’s and transform it into a beautiful garden area where the increasing number of visitors to Skegness could relax.

It opened in 1878 as The Pleasure Gardens and the Earl subsequently handed ownership of the gardens over to Skegness Town Council.

It is known today as Tower Gardens and from April through to September there are a whole host of events taking part in the gardens. From jazz bands to nature activity days, Gala’s and Punch and Judy shows, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Take a look at the Skegness Directory Events Calendar for details of what’s happening in the Tower Gardens and elsewhere in Skegness.
